Her education has allowed her to travel the globe in such places as Vienna, Paris and Tokyo to gain exposure to up and coming biotechnology. In addition to chemistry, biology and engineering, she he is well versed in topics related to drugs and drug delivery as well as the latest techniques used in diagnostics and molecular imaging.
After she finished her graduate work, she took a job at Texas A&M where she taught a number of courses in the Department of Chemical Engineering. One year later, she moved to St. Louis where she joined a cutting edge nutritional research team at a major feed company.
When she is not developing products and technologies, her passion lies with animals. She has two rescued pets; a dog and cat. She also trained a horse for the Extreme Mustang Makeover Competition and was featured in a new documentary entitled, "Wild Horse Wild Ride." The film was a runner up for the 2011 Audience Choice Award at the Palm Springs Film Festival. The film was announced as one of the first 12 picks at the Dallas International Film Festival. She also has her own horse, which she competes on regularly. Her horse; a Friesian Sporthorse, recently was awarded the 2010 Open Performance Award by her breed registry.
Melissa is still relatively new to the St Louis area, so she also plans on covering local attractions, businesses and social scenes as they are discovered. With her family still in Green Bay, she also plans to discuss Super Bowl Land.
Finally, Melissa is well-versed in politics, but rather then following party lines does her best to address individual issues. Her scientific approach allows her to become an effective moderator. She aspires to become both a politician and author.
