Vivek Agrawal M.D.
Vivek Agrawal, MD was born in India, immigrating to the United States with his family when he was eight years old. Helping his family renovate their home, Dr. Agrawal realized an early interest in problem-solving and working with his hands. "I loved getting the chance to take something broken and figuring out the best way to put it back together again," said Dr. Agrawal. These skills combined with a love for medicine borne out of his experience having had surgery as a child led him to become an Orthopedic Surgeon and a shoulder specialist
As a college student Dr. Agrawal injured his shoulder playing competitive tennis, and the lack of an available treatment at the time regarding his shoulder injury piqued his interest for advancements in shoulder care.
Dr. Agrawal attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign for his undergraduate studies. After earning his medical degree and completing his residency in Orthopedic Surgery at Indiana University, Dr. Agrawal proudly served as a Major in the United States Air Force.
His shoulder injury and growing interest in shoulder mechanics led him to seek advanced training and experience in shoulder surgery with some of the world's most highly regarded shoulder surgeons. Ultimately, successful treatment of his own shoulder problem has helped him continue to develop highly specialized expertise in arthroscopic and reconstructive shoulder techniques to benefit his patients.
"I was thrilled by the prospects of making a difference in medicine," noted Dr. Agrawal. "From a patient's perspective, I understood that the best outcome requires both medical expertise and care for the patient's well-being. That dual concern for cutting-edge and compassionate treatment for my patients drives my practice today."
