  • Trusting God in the Desert
Clinging to God’s truths gives peace in our deserts, and believing he has overcome gives us confidence we will too. Trust God’s heart even when you can’t trace his hand.
  • Living with Uncertainty
Confession of sin brings a relationship, and God won’t take what he freely gives. If you’re connected through Christ, live with confidence your sins are forgiven, your eternity is certain and your present is as exciting as you let God make it.
  • Living with Regret
Looking back makes us prisoners of the past rather than claiming power over it.
  • Spiritual Misfits
As a follower of Christ, some things just don’t fit or wear properly because I’m a new creation in him. Paul lists a few: dishonesty, wild parties, drunkenness, sexual impurity, immoral living, fighting and jealousy.
  • Resolving Conflict With Forgiveness
When conflict erupts, forgiveness should be the first point of attack-instantaneous and complete.
  • The Power of Forgiveness
To experience healing power, forgiveness must be instant, repeated when necessary, and limitless.
  • Choosing to Trust
God can empower us to forgive even those who have blatantly betrayed out trust.
  • Nutrition from the Wrong Place
I still crave healthy and unhealthy food and eat both-just in smaller quantities. But I’ve learned spiritual food is more important.
  • Prayer Fix
Prayer shows dependence on God. It acknowledges I won’t act if he doesn’t. Prayer confesses my belief God’s in control of world events and those in my life.
  • First Things First
Life is filled with important decisions and wonderful opportunities, but everything ethical in essence isn’t necessarily proper in practice.
  • Rekindled Love
Growing and lasting love requires stoking just like embers in a fireplace. Left alone, they cool and the fire dies. Embers need romancing and so does our love for God and other true loves.
  • Lonely in the Crowd
God’s shoulders are broad enough to bear my burdens and his heart big enough to absorb my tears. Let God comfort you when loneliness creeps in.
  • Retaining Perspective
The pieces of my life may seem like three jigsaw puzzles mixed up together with no hope of configuring either one. But believing God is in control allows the pieces to come together with beautiful tapestry.
  • God’s Vanishing Touch
I can't imagine the possibility of God’s vanishing touch. Losing the feel of his presence I so relish when I need a word of guidance. Not feeling his comfort when life takes a nosedive.
  • Famine Living
Only as we love God supremely can we adequately love ourselves and others. When we don’t know how to love, relationships deteriorate, flounder and fail.
  • Hearing God
Churches and prayer closets are wonderful places to hear from our heavenly Father. His instructions will always align with his Word and be in our best interest.
  • Canceled Debts
Understanding God’s complete forgiveness frees us to serve him and others with a clear conscience. Others may attempt to chain you, but God never will.
  • No Fear
Our relationship with God shouldn’t be tenuous. Fear is absent because we’re connected with perfect love.
  • The Blame Game
The blame game may ease our consciences but it doesn’t lessen our responsibility. Owning up to our mistakes by confession is the only path to power, freedom and forgiveness.
  • Motivational Motivators
What motivates me to give to the less fortunate, love the unlovable, serve the undeserving, and work for those who may not appreciate my efforts is just as important as the act itself.
  • Weight Control
Bad attitudes, gossip, knee jerk reactions, unkind words, unforgiveness, rash decisions, poor planning, and unwise relationships can all weigh us down and trip us up.
  • Greedy Giving: Gifts At Christmas
Gifts are never as important as the motives with which they’re given and the actions displayed getting them.
  • Help I’m Lonely
Loneliness can strike even when we’re surrounded by busyness, stuff and people. Even when everything is in place that normally gauges happiness.
  • The Value of a Name
Martin may not appear significant. Just a name picked from a list in some baby’s name book. Not in my case. It was my mother’s maiden name.
  • Passed the Test
Life’s greatest test contains only one question: “What must I do for God to accept me?”
  • Restless Living
Restlessness is part of life. Living by faith in what we can’t see but know exists and working for God will help temporarily satisfy our restlessness.
  • Can I Hate?
Life gives multiple opportunities to hate, but is it ever acceptable? It isn’t to hate people.
  • Routines, Routines
When we follow God’s guidelines for living, necessities and extra things take on new meaning. Even work is enjoyable.
  • Working Without Attitude
To work without attitude requires working with the right attitude. Our employer is not the paycheck signer but God.
  • Chasing the Wind
Only the essentials have value and bring happiness. The two greatest were enumerated by Jesus: love God with all our being and others as ourselves.
  • God’s Horn
At twelve years of age, we carried shotguns and actually used them on wild game. We didn’t worry about snakes or being accosted by some pervert. We roamed until we got tired, lost or heard the horn.
  • Burned Out
Life can be downright tiring as we make attempts to possess it all. But when we get “it” we aren’t satisfied.
  • Outward Appearances
Witness the pedicures, manicures, hair coloring, relentless exercise and dieting programs, weight lifting, steroids, wigs, hairpieces, waxing, cryonics, etc. And some of these are acceptable.
  • Position Change
Let your position change create a new attitude in you about life. Live with confidence instead of defeat and optimism instead of negativity.

Our world is full of Radios. The question is how we will respond to them. Will we make fun or turn away out of fear? Will we physically abuse them or put them away in institutions?
  • Fearless Living
Fearless living is realized by remembering God is in control. Nothing can touch us unless it’s filtered through his hand.
  • What’s Wrong with That?
All people are enslaved by sin; we merely express it in different forms-all of which are destructive to us and others.

While entering the grave takes us into another dimension, the unknown becomes less frightening when we trust the One who has been there and returned.

God may be mysterious, but his love isn’t. He can always be trusted to act in our best interest and to formulate good plans for our future.
  • When God Gives a Thorn
God will send whatever it takes to keep us humble and him exalted.
  • When Fear Rules
Fear wrongly perceived can paralyze. It can stymie my faith and prevent me from traveling the road God wants me on.
  • Signs Everywhere
Jesus is watching now and retuning soon. Let him help you prepare so you’ll recognize the signs when they appear.
  • Sin’s Snare
Though we may feel angry when we fail God, he never rejects us for our occasionally stumbles. He's always willing to give another chance and show us how to live free from the snare.
  • Mind Control
“Whatever controls your mind controls you.” I considered the statement but then wondered, “Does it really matter what I think?”
  • A Made Up Mind
Mindset is important because it controls actions. We think, feel then perform. It determines who I choose as my authority: God or me.

God never condemns those he has forgiven. He only corrects when we go astray.

God only gives us a certain amount of time on earth. Pray for wisdom to use it wisely. Time does matter.

God's heroes recognize their need for him and blaze a similar path for others to follow.
  • Stuffing Stuff
Missing God’s mark is typical human behavior but repressing when we do is spiritually unhealthy.

God’s alarm can be soft or loud. The pitch depends on whether we’re programming our consciences to hear God so we can hear.
  • Buzzard Living
God’s plan for our life is more than we could ever imagine and before us for the taking. His gifts and talents are abundant. The only limitation is our choice to take the waste instead of the riches.
  • Sensitive Consciences
Life is always more pleasant when our consciences are tender. Filling our minds with God’s teachings transforms them into trustworthy guides.
  • Hide and Seek
Only as we come out of hiding by admitting our guilt can we experience authentic living.
  • Frazzled but Not Forgotten
Others may neglect, forget and fail to care about us but God won’t. He always intervenes directly or indirectly by sending someone with a word of encouragement, funds to meet our need, or skills to do what we can’t.
  • Ceiling Prayers
Prayers don’t have to transcend ceilings for God to hear them. He is Spirit and everywhere, including the hearts of his children.

In our age of technological marvels, they may have lost their importance. But when my children were young, they were popular and served a dual purpose: education and entertainment. Building blocks.

Praise from others is like cupellation. It should melt us into a purer form, but there is always the danger of big headedness.
  • Sharpened Friends
True friends hold each other accountable for their behavior. When a genuine friend views another friend traveling a destructive path, they will confront because they care.
  • The Complainers Corner
Complaining seems natural while encouragement takes effort. It's easier to criticize Bob's smell, bad habits, disgusting speech and laziness than to recognize his beautiful whistle.

  • Jealousy's Burn
Jealousy is one of those burning fagots. But wait a minute. Doesn't the Bible say God is jealous?

The admonition to 'œwatch what you say' is admirable. Others may forgive us for hurting them with our words but it will be extremely difficult if not impossible for them to forget what we said.
  • Highway of Holiness
Considering whether our daily highways are holy takes continuous reflection. We're not perfect vehicles. Neither are the highways we travel.
  • Marked by God
The most honorable marking is one others never see. It's a clean heart.
  • Fire Fuelers
Gossip doesn't have to be false to be gossip. It can simply be information that's better left unsaid. Tidbits that will fuel the fire making a situation worse instead of better.

Growing up spiritually doesn't entail losing our sense of humor or avoiding enjoyable activities. It does involve focus and actions.

Life is like a fog. It disappears quickly-too quickly. No matter how many years we accumulate, they're never enough for us or our loved ones.

  • Peace in Turmoil
Peace and contentment are possible in all circumstances when our focus and faith is God directed.
  • Motive Matters
A large gift given grudgingly is less valuable than a small gift given from love. Value is determined by the spirit of our actions-in giving and in everything else.

Each day begins differently. Some greet us with clear skies while others begin with storms of doubt, disappointment, confusion and tragedy.
