Verbing NounsMany, if not all, languages allow nouns to be used as verbs, a process known as denominalization. A noun that converts to a verb retains the core meaning(s) it had as a noun. However, the verb also acquires additional meaning(s). -
Approximative Words and Phrases in DiscourseWords and phrases of approximation (such as "about" and "give or take") are common. My hypothesis is that misunderstanding can result from gender differences. This paper and accompanying charts provide evidence to support this hypothesis. -
