I guess I should tell you that first and foremost, I am a Mom. A mom who at the moment is deep in the thralls of empty nest syndrome. I was blessed with a daughter 21 years ago and a son 2 years later. Both of which had the nerve to leave me to attend college. How did that happen? Wasn't it just yesterday that I sent them off to kindergarten? It occured to me that I needed to find a replacement of sorts. Something to take my mind off the two empty rooms upstairs. Something I could baby, nurture, pass on the occasional words of wisdom. I settled on a a dacshund puppy named Cooper. The good thing is he never talks back, doesn't ask for the car keys, and never ever rolls his eyes at me. Of course, the downside, and there's always a downside, is once again I find myself potty training! Still, all in all, life has been good to me. I came through the fog of divorce, found the love of my life the second time around, navigated through the teenage years, and I'm still standing! So while I'm definetly struggling with the syndrome everyone with children will face sooner or later, I'm also looking forward to the future and all that it holds. Those two children that headed off to college without a single look back are turning into amazing adults. My husband and I are planning the trips we'll take when college is finally paid for and in the meantime, I'm keeping busy with the new baby! Cooper NO.....
