Rev. Corbett and wife, Antonia Corbett, are planting a new church in the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex. The name of the church is Empowering Church and as the name implies, the church is dedicated to empowering lives. Rev. Corbett has been preaching the gospel for more than twenty years. His ministry has taken him to Africa, Europe and throughout North America.
Attorney
In 2001, Rev. Corbett decided to pursue a childhood dream of becoming an attorney. He achieved that goal in 2004 when he graduated law school and shortly thereafter relocated to Texas to open his law practice. His practice is based in Dallas, Texas and specializes in criminal defense, personal injury, family law and bankruptcy. Rev. Corbett uses his law practice to further his passion of serving people.
Author
In Rev. Corbett made his debut as an author. He wrote and published "How Public Schools Fail Black Boys." The book addresses how black boys are (1) unfairly excluded from gifted programs and college preparatory courses, (2) overrepresented in special education classes, (3) suspended/expelled more frequently than white students for less serious offenses. Additionally, the book answers why black boys are at the bottom of the achievement gap and have very high dropout rates. The book is unique in that it draws on the latest and best scholarship from diverse fields to show black parents how to help their sons excel in public school despite facing such crippling inequities. Because of the success of the book, Rev. Corbett founded the National Black Parents Association to mobilize black parents to address many of the problems the book addresses.
Education
Rev. Corbett has a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro, NC. Additionally, he earned a Juris Doctorate fro
