Bahar

Hi :-)
My name is Bahar. In Farsi, it means spring. I'm currently studying for GRE (which is a test for grad school: Graduate Record Examination) and am going to apply for a masters in communications for Spring of next year. I want to go into journalism and I've been told by professionals that aside from getting the masters I must learn lots of skills outside the masters program...so I'm using my time that way as well. I currently volunteer for many things including being a secretary on a board, being a weekly manager, creating, editing, and publishing a bimonthly newsletter (I initiated the idea initially but the board must approve every copy), 'special pricing' expensive items at a bookstore, training new volunteers and even writing recommendation letters. This was all for one organization! I also create newsletters on a quarterly basis (also volunteer) for another organization.
I must admit I changed my path many times. Here is a short preview:
I was pre-med my first year at university
3rd year I pursued my interest in theater
4th year I decided to go for psychology and get my Ph.D in clinical psychology (the clinical psychology class was very interesting)
BUT... I changed my mind after getting my B.S. realizing that it may not really be my passion....
So here is where I explored:
I took computer classes, worked at a cafe, and basically took a 'break'. I was open to anything: I've done puppet shows with kids and I love Disney and being around children and entertaining them; someone suggested childcare... I jumped!! I got my permit as an assistant teacher, however after that I realized its not as interesting as I thought....
Okay I've changed my mind a lot but its all been good experience and I've finally settled with my path into journalism and am going to go all the way (this time ALL the way!).
Thank for reading :-)
