Shawn Mines

Mr. Mines is a training consultant for Rutgers University and Marriage and Family Therapy Clinical Practiccum Intern for Family Service Bureau in Newark, NJ. He is formerly faculty for American Humane Association's Breakthrough Series Collaborative on Safety and Risk Assessments. Mr. Mines served as the New Jersey Statewide Youth Advisory Board Coordinator from 2007-2009. Mr. Mines has consulted for over 40 different child serving organizations locally, nationally and internationally. Mr. Mines has a BA in Pan-African Studies. His undergraduate research took him around the globe, studying homeless in Brazil and traditional African religions in Ghana, Benin, Togo, and Burkina Faso. His capstone work at Drew University was a multi-disciplinary research paper on psychological counseling and its perceptions in the African American community. He has a Masters in Psychological Studies with a Concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy from Seton Hall University and is an Ed.S candidate for Marriage and Family Therapy in the Spring of 2012. Mr. Mines' focus in Marriage and Family Therapy is working with families involved with child protective services from a family systems perspective, specifically issues related to foster youth, parents who do and do not have TPR, foster/adoptive families, and reunification are .
