Phillip Jackson

Born in Albuquerque, NM. Moved to Phoenix, AZ, in 1981. I grew up looking at vast mountains, from the Sandias, to Squaw Peak, to the White Tank Mountains, and now, looking right at Estrella Mountain's Quartz Peak due south of my office window. While I am in a valley and see mountains around me, I know I'm home. The vast distances and ability to see forever reminds me that there is something out there, something that needs to be discovered.

My soon to be wife is the reason I do almost anything. My two dogs, the rest of the family, friends, and being so close to so much outdoor and recreational activities makes me smile and look for meaning and love.

I started baseball at age 8 (tried to start at age 7) I still keep a score book for every game I see. The best day of baseball was a day night double-header. The day game was in San Diego. Then, I drove to see Angels play in Anaheim as night game. I currently write a beat for Yahoo Sports.

I have been running in Phoenix since 1986. My brother jokes that almost everywhere we have been to around Phoenix, I've been there running. It's actually pretty accurate.

I enjoy being athletic and competing. Every day, I compete with seventh graders as I teach them how to write, play soccer, play baseball, run cross-country, or run track.
