John Hempe is a self-employed photographer and writer living in his hometown of St. Louis, MO. He has two grown sons, and an enlightened border collie named Jack.
John served as a Marine combat photojournalist from 1977 to 1981, with one tour of duty at the Marine Corps Air Station in Iwakuni, Japan, and two and a half years stationed in upstate New York. He has been a photographer and a writer ever since, working mostly in the field of advertising and marketing for higher education.
He holds a bachelor's degree in fine art from Webster University in St. Louis.
