Edie Jebbinson

I was a contributing columnist for a newspaper in Central Florida. At that time it was The Highlands News-Sun, a subsidiary of the Tampa Tribune. I always got mean looks from relatives and people who knew me simply because I didn't sugar coat. I wrote what I felt needed to be said, Many times, the truth is not pleasant but should be exposed for what it is. I love poetry and I know, from experience, that pain can be released through poetry. My beginnings are not pleasant and through some of my poetry, you understand. Most of my columns for the "NewsSun" were about "Faith" and the community. Much of what the old folks use to say long before I grew up is upon us now. I have first hand knowledge about laboring in citrus fields in Central Florida, I know about laboring in the apple orchards and strawberry fields in Michigan, I also have experience on the streets of New Orleans. Racism, recession, poverty, segregation, etc. There's poetry in it all. What is has already been, It's biblical. I am blessed to still be around to tell the stories.

  • Merry Christmas, Baby
Jesus is the reason for the season and I truly think He has a sense of humor. As we grow older, we sometimes develope what is known as " turkey neck". Misspellings are intentional. Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Stars and Strikes,
You've tried the rest, now try the best. It's great fun for the entire family, even grandparents.
  • Boehner and His "WICKEDNESS"........
The republicans have taken the nation for a ride for two terms. Don't let Boehner confuse you again. Satan's plan is to steal, kill and destroy. Knowledge people!!!!
  • OBAMA...The American Job Act
It's one thing to disagree but to put millions of American lives in jeopardy simply because of bickering is beyond me. Let's move forward and do this thing so our people can live.
  • Congress, the Majority is Full of #%@*
I finally figured out "why" America is in such turmoil. We have a bunch of children in Congress. The majority leader is the biggest kid of all. Get it over with, "Just fall down and have a "temper tantrum".
  • We Are Here..... Awaiting Justice
This takes place in the mid 50's and early 60's. The word says, to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. I beleive this to be true but who are these people I see? We were never truly free.
  • I Guess I'll Dance.......
I know the meaning of deliverance. I've experienced the "Glory" of my Father. I'm no saint. I've been out "there" and done "that". I know I am forgiven and I thank you Father for your Mercy and Grace.
  • Barrack Obama....Tried, Tested, No. #1
I've read many articles trying to put our president down and I say to you demons...."go back to the pits of hell". If if were left up to you, we would still have slave camps dotted all over this country that you stole from native indians.
  • Obama....Cares
This economy was on a downwards spiral to hell long before Barrack came into office. Now, we, the people, expect him to fix it in one term. Give the man a chance. Republicans are the ones that created this mess.
  • Give a Little Back.... Volunteer
Must Ministries is solely dependent upon volunteers who care about their neighbors. The ministry is located in several counties in Georgia including Cobb. Madea's Storytyme is my vision. I read stories to elementary students at school.
  • I, Too, Am a Hero Wounded
For all the spouses of wounded vets who are still fighting a war at home. I know it's not easy and I pray for you daily. This one's for you. You deserve a medal.
  • By Pilate's Order
We profess that we believe that we have the annointing, we have the victory yet we walk in fear and defeat. The word says, "God didn't give us a spirit of fear." The first book that tells the story of freedom is the bible. Jesus went to the cross.
  • Life's Mysteries
No matter the beauty, we pause and live on.
  • TiMe
We are living on borrowed time. Each day we awake, not thinking that maybe, just maybe, we should make the most of each and every day God blesses us with. Let's try to get it right.
  • I Wonder If............
Sometimes I've listened to my child explain to her friends about her hardships as a child. It wasn't the best but I did the best I could as a single parent. While in deep thought, this little poem came to mind.
  • Blindsided
During trying times when we feel the world is falling down around us, when we feel like just giving up, "Don't". Some people may need medication for depression and for others, a higher power. For me, I chose the later. God showed up and showed out.
  • From Me, to You
Many people send flowers, cards or telegrams of condolences when someone departs this life as we know it. I choose to write a poem, frame it and present it to the family. It is a poem from the deceased to her family. It is personal.
  • Phenomenonally, the Alchemist
It's an awesome adventure full of suspense, love, majic, nature and yes, even Jesus is there.. I would only lay it aside to do a few daily things to keep my body going. It's compelling and the real truth. It's the little demons inside all of us.
  • Bravo, Bravo, Paulo Coelho
Paulo Coelho brings out emotions, he brings out the magic, he brings out the mysteries yet the spiritual side is always close at hand in all his work. Many Blessings to you Paulo.
  • Disappointed.....Again
Because man still chooses to remain hard-hearted and disobedient, denying our Father. In the very near future, man will be held accountable and forced to "cry out" to God to remove a bitter cup they know nothing of. Learn "how" to pray before the chaos.
  • Sunrise
I thank you Heavenly Father for sunrise every morning. Seeing the sun rise, I know that I am alive. You alone have blessed me with another day. Let's make the most of it.
  • I Honor You........
"To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord." My mother smiled and I froze as she took her last breath. I was speedhless but with my pen, I wrote:
  • ASK ME......
Many people are misjudged based on the opinions of others. You might just find the answers you want or need to know by simply asking the person you're so curious about.
  • Approval Addiction
Needless to say, the media has a way of controlling the minds of many. The way they dress, the way they look, how much weight is just right, the hair styles, etc. Don't you have a mind of your own? When are you going to use it? You are "Beautiful".
  • MeTaMoRpHoSiS
A life altering experience for me once I decided to exchange ashes for beauty.
  • Up and to the North
The enemy uses lack of knowledge to keep us ignorant and contained. Scientist have actually found that their is something "out" there to the north of us, something they never realized was there. The Third Realm....Heaven.
  • A Lioness Roared
In 2004, Hurricane Jeanne hit Central Fla. three hours after leaving the gravesite of my baby sister, Dino. She was my confidant and she went out like a true "lioness". I have much respect for Mother Nature.
  • Faith Is.....
Trusting in God to do the impossible. "Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen."
  • The "sion's" of Depressions
Some years ago, manipulation of this school we call the world caused me to stray into a darkness I had never known. It's was a road I now know I had to travel to become the person I am today. I have no regrets. I am "forgiven".
  • Ah, Summer "time"
Each season has it's own glamour and horror stories we read about each year. The bible says that we can make the exchange, "beauty for ashes". Will you?
  • Earth Speaking....Hear Me Cry
Men are using earth's resources so fast and furious, their is not enough time for replenishment. Our sons and daughters are paying the price for man's greed. Greed will be earth's destruction.
  • Soulfully SpEaKiNg
When I wrote this piece, years ago, I was angry at many of our elusive fathers. Today, it's beyond anger. Runaway donors of our past have passed on this runaway seed. Your children are dying. Fathers, where are you?
  • Royal Bloodline
As a child, I listened to relatives say that I would never amount to anything and many other negative things about me. Well, I'm alive today, to say that I am somebody and I am the daughter of a King.
  • Negril, Jamaica - the Best Summer Ever
When I traveled beyond the tourist area the out-houses, victory gardens, screenless windows and even cooking outside sometimes, I saw lots of poverty but plenty of love among the people. Beautiful island but the islanders inside are forgotten.
  • It Still Hurts........
Childhood abuse can be life long devastation to those who won't allow their souls to heal. Only you have the power to take back your documentation of freedom from the abuser. I've forgiven. Today, I live.
  • DeFaMaTiOn
Cruel words can damage the lives of the innocent. Defaming words spreads like a wild fire out of control. Many suicides are caused by this menacing power. Are you a part of the problem?
  • Penny-less?
As a child, I lived in hay lofts in Michigan, I lived in run-down shacks in Florida that other kids laughed at. The bed I slept on was made up of wooden orange crates and an old mattress..........
  • Voices of the Aged
I've always had much love for the elderly. The stories of old are remarkable. The dim light in their eyes seem to burst with new brightness with an audience of just one as they reminisce. The miracle is, "they remember".
  • Incest - Grandpa's Love
We've been told many time not to tell, " what goes on in this house, stays in this house". This was my way out. I had no one to tell. Well, I say, today, "Let go and let healing begin."
  • River's Crossing
The acceptance of responsibility for your choices opens up new doors for you. Make the decisions as adults, face them and move on. Letting go of past hurts is the first step to your new beginning. Rise Up.
  • In Search of Perfection
I said to myself, "We have no family here", then I looked into the eyes of my two loves and I saw the reflection of fireworks.
  • Independence Day
I am so thankful for the freedom that I have due to many lives lost and many lives in battle now. God bless each and every one of them. God Bless America. The form of my poetry is intentional.
