I am a doctoral clinical psychology student at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. My interests are in Clinical Forensic Psychology, specifically psychological assessment. My dissertation will be on neurological, genetic, and cognitive bases of aggression.
I am a complete and utter nerd, and I have finally come to terms with this and have stopped trying cover it up or convince myself otherwise. I love science fiction, fantasy, and horror. I grew up reading H.P. Lovecraft, and he is probably my favorite horror writer. My favorite novel, however, is actually Victor Hugo's The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Consequently, the main reason why I hate Disney is because of their horrible children's version of this magnificent book, as well as other travesties such as Aladdin, Sinbad, The Jungle Book, etc. Current favorite writers include, but are not limited to: George R.R. Martin, Caitlin R. Kiernan (Silk is one of the most amazing novels I have ever read) Scott Lynch, Nick Sagan, Brian Stableford, Tad Williams, and the list goes on. Really, I read a lot, I just can't think of all my favorite authors right now.
I suspect that I am secretly a romantic, despite hiding behind a cold and detached, scientific exterior. I see it when I edit some of my stories, but I'm not sure I'm ready to admit it to myself yet. As a psychology student, I find that I evaluate myself far too much.
Another thing I should mention is that a good bit of my writing is dark, violent, and disturbing. However, and I can't stress this enough, all of my writing is fiction. Who I am in real life has nothing to do with the subjects I write about.
