Life is an empty canvas on which we can splash and splatter anything we'd like, though we should always strive to progress. Though positivity is preferred, we must accept the appropriate negativity. True "failure" doesn't occur unless you fail to learn from your mistakes.

  • Love, Loss, and Lust
Lust & Love are constantly confused for one another, while loss of lust is also confused with loss of love. Arguably love can't be lost, and if it is, it must not have been love, but lust.
  • The Tortoise and the Hare Analysis
Many of us know this story, but have you ever really taken the time to think about what we're supposed to take away from it?
  • Ode to the Honey Bee
The Bee is an undervalued member of our ecosystem, so I was inspired to write to it and express my appreciation. (I completed this poem as a model for my students when we were trying to mimic Romantic Poets)
  • Macbeth - a Modern, School-set Parody
This play is a parody of Macbeth. Each Act has been reduced to a page or less. Our goal was to have fun, but also maintain most plot elements. We had a blast rehearsing and filming, and I had a blast editing.
  • War of the Rabbits
Life as a big brother can be tough and sometimes war-like. In this tale, the protaganist is initially dealt defeat but ends up saving the day.
  • Discover Me
Ever feel confused about who you are and what your purpose is? I used to feel that way, but it feels great to figure yourself out!
  • Self Satisfaction
A solution to many problems lies right in front of you. Good things happen to good people. Have you ever seen Pay It Forward? True happiness isn't found in money and things...
  • The Firefly's Freedom
Natasha, a young girl, recently experienced her parents' divorce. With her father taking a job at a far away factory, her only means of bonding with him in his absence is an old pastime: catching fireflies.
  • Life is a Highway
Following a lesson on extended metaphor (I am a HS English teacher), I practiced what I preached and meditated on similarities between life and a highway. The result was this poem!
  • My Four-Leaf-Clover
An expression of love for an Irish love interest!
  • Freedom Lovers
Americans are not boastful on our independence day. We simply realize how important freedom is to human existence, and we embrace and celebrate that. Any person or country who thinks otherwise probably isn't thinking for themselves anyway.
