I am a former English, speech and technology teacher with varied interests. I grew up in what was then the small farming town of Brighton, Colorado. I have five brothers and sisters with whom I remain close. I am married and have one daughter and two grandsons. I am a Colorado native and am an unabashed booster of all things related to Colorado. After receiving a B.A. at the University of Northern Colorado, I have also earned an M.A. in English at Ft. Hays and a M.Ed. in Technology from Lesley University. I spent my first 9 years of teaching at a parochial school, Machebeuf High School in Denver. I then moved to a public school, Sheridan High School, in 1989. I taught at Sheridan for 20 years. For 10 of those years, I was yearbook sponsor. Most of my composing and editing skills come from the time I spent on this job. My experience as a composition teacher at Arapahoe Community College also has developed my editing skills. At both high schools, I served as cross country and track coach. Some of my fondest memories are from the time that I spent working with young athletes. I am currently working on my first book, a novel about the explorer John Charles Fremont and his disastrous Fourth Expedition into the Colorado Rockies in the dead of winter. I currently work at the software firm Rivet as a proofreader. I spend my spare time with my family, cooking, gardening and reading both fiction and nonfiction. I gained my love of reading and of cooking from my mother. I hope to spend my retirement years traveling, meeting new and interesting people and improving my cooking skills.
