Bill Loos

Born and raised in Wisconsin, I am a follower of Jesus Christ. Conservative in my beliefs, with liberal tendancies in my politics, I nonetheless will not shove my faith down anyone else's throat. I have been blessed with a loving, supportive wife since 1974. Our "children" currently consist of 2 dogs and a cat.

  • The Fork
This is a poetic version of one of my mother's favorite stories.
  • Psalm 151, or the Picker's Psalm
A psalm is a song of praise. I present this as a psalm written from the perspective of a bluegrass musician.
  • Life's Pathways
This piece has a small kernel of autobiography to it.
  • To Pa and Uncle Jim
This is a loving tribute to my father, and his dear friend Jim. The text says it all. Written as song lyrics, meant to be sung to "Rock This Town!", as recorded by The Stray Cats.
  • CoNfLiCtIoNs
This was written, rife with teenage angst (before the term was even known), when I was in high school; many, many, MANY years ago!
  • Luke 15:11-24
This was originally written to be sung. The title should explain the term "kill the fatted calf".
  • Genesis 6; Part 2
This piece, written in the '90s, was meant to convey an ominous tone. I hope I suceeded.
  • Atonement Needed
Like Lennon and Dylan, I sometimes like to simply play with words, to see what comes up. Here are the results of this foray.
  • Table for One, Please!
Written during a very anti-social period of my life.
  • Lisa-land
On a roadtrip, my then-sister-in-law would expound on how things would be if she ruled the world. This resulted in a view of her world, as presented here. The referrence to Desenex is in regards to a false-bottomed can, used for hiding contraband
  • Birthday Greetings
Rather cynical at the time it was written, perhaps this is a cry for help?
  • Mother's Day, 1983
A poetic tribute to my mother, presented to her on Mother's Day, 1983.
  • Curtain Call
An expression of gratitude to all the rest of those involved in a community theater production I was in.
  • Beauty is in the Eye ...
A poem giving perspective on the importance of a fastidiously tended lawn.
  • Love Eternal
A poem, written to my wife, after a number of years of marriage.
