Janet 'Woman on the Loose' Dore
Putting oneself into words is a daunting task...especially when one has reached "middle" age and there is a significant amount of ground to cover. Is it best to list one's major accomplishments since birth while glossing over the less-than-perfect parts or expose oneself completely revealing every significant detail? I wonder...is anyone truly that interested in either scenario? Unless they're looking for a date, I doubt it...
As I pondered the biographical dilemma I was facing, I remembered a blog I once read where the author (Danielle Laporte) challenged the reader to find their "word"...that one word that encompasses all of who you are. Not a list of words...that's too easy...but, a single word that captures the essence (not all) of who you are. At first I thought this would be difficult, but it didn't take long for a word to surface out of the depths.
So my bio will be concise...
EXPLORER
...of self, of others, of places, of life. Yep...that's my word. It fits. And, I love it.
(For those who need cold hard facts...I'm a 44 former at-home mom of two highly independent teenagers who recently figured out who she really is resulting in an ongoing mid-life renovation.)
