Donna Hicks has been writing for over 20 years. She is honored to have won several writing contests and awards. In the 2012 Citizen Journalism Contest, "Haiti's Earthquake: Two Years After," sponsored by Global Post, Universal Giving and Helium, Donna was awarded 3rd place. In 2011, she entered the prestigious 'World Population Approaches 7 Billion' Contest sponsored by the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting, Population Services International (PSI) and Helium. Donna had the honor of one of her articles being selected Best Article Overall. It was published in the PSI quarterly print magazine "Impact" in September, 2011. Impact is distributed in over 60 countries.
She was selected winner of the 2008 Paul Laurence Dunbar Memorial Poetry Contest, from more than 1000 entries.
She enjoys writing on any topic. Donna also enjoys collecting, selling and writing about antiques, music and entering sweepstakes and contests. Although she primarily writes about serious issues, she vows to be a well-known comedian in her next life...or maybe yet in this one.
