I teach auto mechanics courses at the local community college. Several times per year, I host workshops that teach women how to perform basic automotive maintenance tasks like changing oil, tire rotation, changing flat tires, and performing tune-ups. I believe that knowledge is power, and nothing is more empowering than learning how to do something new. I left my career as a licensed practical nurse to enter a field traditionally dominated by men so that other women would not be afraid to learn more about mechanical trades.
