Evelyn Jansen
Evelyn was born in Geneva, New York, a small city at the north end of Seneca Lake, largest of the Finger Lakes in the western region of New York. Geneva is home to the historic Smith Opera House, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and in The Smithsonian; and to Hobart and William Smith Colleges.
Writing has been her pastime since grade school, when she began filling spiral-bound notebooks with poems, meditations and stories. Not much has changed since then, except for the use of voice recorders and computers for collecting and cataloging material. And more living means more material, lots and lots of material!
After graduating from Geneva High School, Evelyn attended design school in Arlington, Texas. The beauty of the Finger Lakes, and a longing for friends and family drew her back home eventually though, where she married a local guy and had two wonderful daughters. Some years down the road she returned to college and earned a B.A. in Communications from St. John Fisher College in Rochester, New York.
Her poetry, feature articles and stories have appeared in regional newspapers and magazines and she is working on getting more and more work out there in the future.
