How many people hate math? How many people feel anxiety when they are sitting in a math class? When I embarked on studying engineering, I had to take several math classes. Engineering was a major career change for me. I hadn't studied math in over 20 years, but I thought, "I'm a hard worker. I can learn anything." It was a disaster from college algebra right through calculus 1, 2, and 3. I studied for hours on end just to earn a C. It should have been fun, not agony. What turned it around for me? Applied mathematics. Call them story problems if you like. That's how it finally all came together for me, and that's how I love to share my knowledge. I heard a Mary Kay lady once say, "Facts tell, stories sell." These "math stories" sold me. I love math, and I hope my audience will love it just as much as I do.
