Flo Gonzalez
Florencio Gonzalez was born in Cuba and immigrated to the United States at the age of five with his parents and younger brother. Shortly after arriving in the United States, he started Kindergarten where he quickly took ownership of the largest tricycle in the playground and had his first name shortened to Flo by his new classmates. He had a passion for sports and played football, baseball, basketball, track and wrestling during his school days. His favorite academic subjects in school were math and science. He hung out with the jocks and the "brains" in high school.
Flo earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Cell and Molecular Biology from San Francisco State University and has worked in the environmental field for over 23 years. He has experience in a number of areas and subjects including education, public speaking, writing, data analysis, database design and development, and coaching. He's pretty sure he and his friends played the first roller hockey game in the mid-70's using roller skates, skateboards, broom sticks and a rubber ball. He also claims to have coined the phrase "designated driver" and that it started appearing in ads after he used it a conversation with an employee of a public relations firm. Flo currently lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with his wife Maria and their five young children.
