Valerie J. Chalcraft
Valerie J. Chalcraft is an experimental psychologist with an MA and a PhD from the University of Nevada, Reno where she studied chimpanzees who communicate with American Sign Language. Chalcraft is an independent researcher who is interested in applying the principles of behavior to improve the welfare and rights of humans and non-humans. For over twenty years she has actively fought the exploitation of nonhuman animals in factory-farms, circuses, laboratories, and fur-farms and promotes Trap-Neuter-Return/Rescue of feral and abandoned cats. Currently, she is a companion animal behaviorist with a clinical practice ,Applied Animal Behavior, in Chicago, Illinois.
