Brock M. Hunter
I am an aspiring author living in Martinsburg, West Virginia. My dream is to be a successful novelist but I also enjoy writing non-fiction, and op-ed pieces on controversial topics.
My passion is ...
writing
My parents always told me ...
I could do anything I set my mind to
My childhood ambition ...
I had several, though the one that I can remember being most excited about and attempting to pursue was writing. At age twelve, I remember contacting a publisher advertising that they needed authors for childrens books only to be told they wouldn't deal with a child. It's funny and understandable when I think about it now, but I remember being devastated back then.
Why I write ...
It is entertaining and exciting to me. I express my thoughts better with the written word than any other means of communication. Additionally, when I die I want to be able to leave behind something that people can use to glimpse inside my heart and mind.
My first job ...
Was working for Domino's Pizza holding a sign with their specials on it by the side of the road-not one of the high points of my life, but definately a learning experience.
My best moment ...
The birth of my daughter
My inspiration ...
Stephen King - I remember contacting him through his publisher when I was a child and asking him for advice on how to become a writer. He replied back to me and even included photocopies of a few articles he had written for magazines. As a 12 year old, I was overjoyed.
