Nickolaos Petros Kangelaris
Born to immigrant parents, Nickolaos Petros Kangelaris was raised on Long Island, New York where he attended Jericho Public Schools.
He is a second degree black belt in Shotokan Karate-Do, under the tutelage of Sensei Tokey Hill. Mr. Kangelaris had success in many amateur tournaments and competitions in the sports of karate and boxing. Through the programs offered by “Tokey Hill’s Karate Center of Champions”, Mr. Kangelaris was a Sensei of martial arts classes of the Dojo, to terminally ill children of St. Mary’s Hospital of Douglaston, New York, and to the deaf-blind at the Helen Keller Center in Port Washington, New York. Mr. Kangelaris was also an assistant trainer and assistant coach to Mr. Tokey Hill for various sports teams, athletes, and training camps. This included the US National Karate Team and several training camps conducted at the US Olympic Training Center in Lake Placid, New York.
In 1993, Mr. Kangelaris was an intern in the Parliament of Greece for eight months. During 1994, he interned in the Parliament of Haiti, worked with and NGO named Chance Alternative, and participated in activities of the Port Au Prince Rotary Club. Mr. Kangelaris has worked as a contributing journalist and commentator for “East-West: The Maria Papadatos Television Show”, a public access television program in New York City, from 1993-1997, and again in 2005.
Mr. Kangelaris enlisted in the United States Navy in 1997 and entered the Nuclear Power Engineering Program. After receiving an honorable discharge from the Navy, Mr. Kangelaris attended the George Washington University, in Washington, D.C., where he earned a Bachelors of Science Degree in Political Science, and attended graduate courses in International Economic Development, U.S. Space Policy, and “Science, Innovation and Public Policy”.
He is currently an entrepreneur, inventor, writer, investment banker, trustee, and trader.
