Youth for Sport, Rehabilitation, and Restoration Y

The Garden district is located North of Lusaka Town Center and is home to over 7,000 people. At best, it can be could an unplanned settlement, and at worse, it could be called a slum. While the culture is as rich as the mango and avocado trees growing throughout the town, the people are poor and sparsely employed. As you approach the vicinity, loud music
blares from the many nightclubs and bars, ...the most popular form of recreation and entertainment.

What's worse is that the children seem follow in the footsteps of the adults. Many fall victim to the dangerous vices of alcohol and drug abuse. A lot of children leave their homes and end up living on the streets from as young as 8 years old. These unfortunate circumstances stem mainly from a lack of productive infrastructure and boredom.

Since its inception in 2005, Youth for Sport, Restoration, and Rehabilitation (YOFOSO) has sought to give the children not only a safe place to grow and thrive, but also productive programmes to engage the children. YOFOSO now has their own building that serves as a social center for the youth, complete with a library, internet cafe, and a business center.

YOFOSO's most recent success stories include Samuel Mwale, who starred in the film "Mwansa the Great". YOFOSO also has a soccer team, the Young Gunners, which recently made it to the semi-finals in the Lusaka Tournament.
