Matt Mertes

Matthew C. Mertes was born in Rosenberg, Texas on December the 12th, 1985. His parents Mike and Lori Mertes, moved to Fairbanks, Alaska when he was five and brought along a younger brother, Christopher, three years old and little sister, Shannon who was one. Later when Matt was ten he would have another little sister, Colleen. As a young boy Matt would daydream and make up stories to entertain his friends and family, that is where his love of story telling had begun. His love of writing stems from his lack of preparedness and finesse while trying to speak with the opposite gender, in other words he was shy. Well he found that with a well crafted and meaningful letter he could express himself while still retaining his natural grace and eloquence which eluded him from time to time. In college Matt took many creative writing courses and excelled at writing Science Fiction and Fantasy genres as well as some Mystery short stories. Now, he can still be found in his home town where he lives with his beautiful and brilliant wife Amanda and their little dog too, Gridword. He is working on publishing his first book and set of short stories, Matt is also a contibuter to this site and many others like it. Matt's long time friend Hagen Billy are collaberating on a new web comic, they hope will debut in 2012. When he is not writing, you can find Matt on the slopes at one of the downhill ski areas around town. An avid snowboarder, he loves to try and go as often as he can. That is Matthew C. Mertes in a nutshell, writer, boarder, husband, son, brother, friend and all around happy and fun guy.
