John Lamb
Growing up, history was one of John Lamb's great loves, but after pursuing a history degree, reality set in, and it was time to find work - in community journalism! Adventures in education, music retailing, and serving as a courier followed, before he ended up in non-profit administration, for faith-based human service agencies where he has worked since 1998.
Love for history dies hard. Lamb's extensive research into the 2nd Maryland Infantry, US, of the American Civil War led to two articles in America's Civil War magazine. His research into the Winans Steam Gun helped secure a guest appearance on Mythbusters in 2007, and is the subject of a book published in 2011 by the Chesapeake Book Company.
An additional interest in an Appalachian religious music form known as shapenote singing lead Lamb to develop a skill in capturing field recordings of various kinds of singings, and producing several cds including the package design, audio contents and historical liner notes.
