D.R. Jackson
My full name is Dannie Ray Jackson, also known as Daniel Jackson in some regions of the Internet. I originally became interested in technical writing through a college course offered on the subject. While taking courses for electronics communications and electrical engineering. After my initial study of electronics. I became interested in electrical power systems of the wind and solar kinds. Which lead to an interest in green building.
Sometimes to aid the reader of my articles. I make models of various buildings and renewable energy systems. Using Google SketchUp 3D software. Which not only provides the reader with a nice drawing of the physical details. But can be used with the NREL OpenStudio plugin. To connect the model to the EnergyPlus software provided for use by the US D.O.E. So that an energy analysis of the model can be run.
The following is a list of the most helpful math expressions you will ever need to master renewable energy.
(0.018 Btu/ft^3) * degrees F = Btu/f^3 air
1 Btu = 1 Lb water * 1 degree F
square foot / R factor = Btu/hour/degree F
1 kW = 3412.97 Btu
1 HP = 746 watts = 2546.075 Btu
