Jens Amundsen
"My crime novels expose corruption in government, business, society.Criminals aren't alone; they have enablers."
Jens Amundsen is the pen name for an attorney whose literary anonymity protects him and his clients from the powers that be (and want to be).
His crime novels are inspired by his personal experiences (including those with criminals, law enforcement, witnesses, and judges) and by real-life criminals and criminal cases. He writes in the fiction genre to protect the identity of the innocent and not so innocent.
He reads all reviews and comments (good and bad) and writes back to all readers who contact him on Twitter (jensamundsen), www.deadlybooks.com, or e-mail (nynorsk@ymail.com). Please give him time since he sometimes has a backlog.
The goal for his novels are to:
1. entertain with mystery and suspense;
2. bring the real Norway and real Norwegians into his novels along with a realistic treatment of crime, criminals, and the justice system; and,
3. deliver a juicy crime story within the larger epic of life and death.
As for his writing style he agrees with readers that he writes in a unique style that recalls Georges Simenon (the Inspector Maigret series), Cormac McCarthy (Blood Meridian; No Country for Old Men; The Road; Border Trilogy), and Jim Thompson (The Killer Inside Me).
He's declared that: "Commas are superfluous. They're a waste. I never use them. Neither does the literary genius of Pulitzer Prize winner Cormac McCarthy."
And as for ellipses (...), he writes that they reflect how people really talk. For example: "I use ellipses in characters' dialogue because . . . natural and realistic speech means that people pause . . . they think . . . they lie . . . they get distracted . . . they take a breath . . . they drink or smoke or stare or look away."
