Doing Business In Africa

Andualem Sisay Gessesse is a journalist and researcher who has been working for various private media and research firms in Africa and outside Africa.

In June 2011 Andualem won Foreign Correspondents Association of Ethiopia’s "Journalism Excellence 2011 Award" in English Category (FCAE Announces Ethiopian "Excellence in Journalism Award 2011" Winners) http://www.africa-eu-partnership.org/node/2039

He has been practicing journalism for several years on various media -online and newspapers such as, Capital news paper (www.capitalethiopia.com), www.africanews.com, Addis Admass (Amharic Weekly) (www.addisadmass.com) newspaper, Guardian (Saturday English newspaper which used to be published in Ethiopia).
Currently, he works as a managing editor and senior reporter for an online Ethiopian newspaper, which he founded in 2009, www.newbusinessethiopia.com).

During this period, he has covered lots of local, regional and international issues and able to meet famous and high ranking individuals, which includes: (Current UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon and his predecessor Kofi Annan and many African leaders, Former US Secretary State Condoleezza Rice, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, singers such as Chaka Chacka, Beyonce.

In addition, he also launched and runs an online basic journalism training website for free, New Business Ethiopia Journalism Institute (http://nbeinstitute.org/), where he and his colleagues are currently training over 100 journalism-passionate bloggers who live in different parts of Ethiopia in order to help journalism-enthusiastic individuals become citizen journalists.

As an investigative journalist and a member of the Johannesburg-based Forum for African Investigative Reporters (FAIR), http://fairreporters.org contributing for both local and international media and other international publications such as: (http://www.globalintegrity.org/report/Ethiopia/2010/notebook), http://un.org/africarenewa to which he is still working.
