Andy Carrington
Andy Carrington is a freelance writer from Pontefract, West Yorkshire, currently residing in Shipley. He was educated at Wakefield College and the University of Wales, Aberystwyth, where he gained a 2.1 in English Literature and Creative Writing, and has since been the feature of various monthly and quarterly poetry magazines. To date, his work has also been included in two poetry anthologies -- one of which was compiled to raise money for the Prince of Wales Hospice, Pontefract -- and he has published one collection of poetry independently, entitled But, Mother Knows (2009), and one digital chapbook, But, Mother Doesn't Know (2010).
Besides poetry, his passion for writing ranges as widely as short stories and tutorials for writers. He has a keen interest in Hip-Hop culture and action films of the '80s and '90s, which he regularly incorporates into reviews and articles for this website, and posts regularly one his blog, which includes the "unpopularly-popular" Tales of Misanthropy series. He also offers online support and advice for sufferers of Crohn's Disease, since been diagnosed with the illness himself in August 2008, and lists Photography, 8-Ball Pool and Beer Tasting as his other interests.
