Jamilah Renae
Published Author/Poet/ Spoken Word Performer, Ms. Terry R. Banks was born and raised in Dallas, TX. She began writing and finding inspiration from all aspects of her life and the lives of others at a young age, she found that poetry was her "calm" within the storms of life. Her first body of work, "Emotions- A Dairy of Words" was published in 2003. All of the positive feedback confirmed that her voice was much needed and in 2008 "In My Darkest Hour" was published. Also during that time she began performing at various venues in the Southeast Texas area under the stage name Ugly Beauty. In the fall of 2010 she recorded her first spoken word CD entitled UnSpoken. She is also the owner and operator of Montau Media Publishing, LLC, a multimedia company and founder of Sistas In Poetry, an online magazine and radio show that uses poetry to inspire and uplift victims of domestic violence.
