This is a story written in poetry form about my childhood. It is written like this because it was a easy way for a small Rhonda to express feelings. I was ripped away at the age of 3 years from the only mom and dad I knew. My brother and sisters taken too. It happened that August night in 1959, where a man shot his wife. That man was my father, a drunk, a child molester, a true monster. He shot my mother in front of me on that August night. She fell to the floor with blood pouring from her. That was when my life and my brothers and sisters life changed forever.
At the age of 41/2 years old I was adopted in to a family who abused me as well, I was told by them to never, ever talk out loud. They hated my voice they said. It made sick, It hurt them. They had stolen small Rhonda's 'voice'. She Has Awaken is about small Rhonda who after 54 years has now 'awaken' to reclaim her voice. Poems help me to express all those hidden feelings I had carried around inside me. I wrote and published my book because I want anyone who suffered from any kind of abuse to know that from darkness comes light.
