Ellen Phillips currently resides in the Chattanooga, Tennessee area, where she bylines the "Consumer Watch" column for the Chattanooga Times Free Press.

Phillips, consultant and consumer advocate, is the founder and president of Ellen Phillips Inc., which also includes corporate consulting and business editing. She has been featured in The Washington Post and in many other newspapers across the country, including The New York Times. Highlighted in such periodicals as Allure, Bottom Line Personal, Glamour, Kiplinger's Personal Finance, Ladies Home Journal, Vanity Fair, People Weekly, SmartMoney, Woman's Day, and USA Today. A guest of national radio, Phillips has appeared on many national television programs, including 48 Hours, Good Morning America, Oprah, and The Today Show. Mrs. Phillips is a a former consultant for the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP). Her book Shocked, Appalled, and Dismayed! How to Write Letters of Complaint That Get Results, released in January 1999 by Vintage Books, a division of Random House, Inc., was utilized as the textbook for Florida's Center for Independent Living self-advocacy course. The book can be purchased from bookstores and from Internet book sites. Phillips' second consumer book Fight Back and Win! How to Work With Business and Get What You Want (November 2002) may be obtained in the previous manner. The latter was selected as a training resource for the nation-wide Atria Assisted Living Communities. Further, Federal Express' 2003 National Leadership Conference featured her 48 Hours customer service segment.

Phillips presents diverse seminars for libraries, bookstores, and organizations, both consumer and corporate-related, and has been the keynote speaker for a variety of conferences. Her editing expertise has strengthened numerous articles, newsletters, and speeches.
