Terri H. Rafferty
I was born and raised in the Finger Lakes Region of Central New York. After spending my childhood and adolescence always with my nose in a book and consistently writing short stories, I took my love for reading and writing to college. I wrote for the school newspaper The Onyx at Wells College where I co-wrote a fashion and advice column and wrote my own food critic column critiquing local restaurants and eateries in the surrounding area.
I graduated from Wells College with a B.A. in English Literature and a minor in Sociology in 2008. After earning my B.A., I attended Syracuse University S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications where I majored in Magazine, Newspaper and Online Journalism graduating in 2009 with a Master Degree. At Newhouse, I interned as a contributing writer for The Citizen Newspaper in Auburn New York where I covered events for the Sunday edition and wrote for the features department. For my capstone project at Newhouse, I collaborated with my classmates creating, researching and writing Untied Magazine specifically tailored for divorced women. For Untied, I dived headfirst into the journalistic world of magazine editing, copywriting, and writing articles for the print and online edition of the magazine.
Interested in law and politics and once having the childhood ambition of wanting a career as a lawyer, I interned and worked at various law offices in college. I have also interned with The Fair Housing Council of Central New York. Other interests include fashion, pop culture, arts and entertainment, health, travel, food, books, women and children issues and the environment.
I still reside in New York with my two cats Holly and Earl and my dog Sheeba.
