I am very interested in the history of the Cold War. I have earned a Master of Arts in History and researched the Cuban missile crisis from the Soviet perspective. My thesis dealt with the Soviet perspective of the event and discussed Nikita Khrushchev's interest in Cuba and his determination to defend the Caribbean island with nuclear weaponry. Through this process I met and interviewed Sergei Khrushchev at Brown University in 2005. I found the encounter to be the highlight of my research. Sergei is a charming and intelligent man who knew his father well.
