Ana Figueroa is an award-winning writer based in Los Angeles. Ms. Figueroa served as a staff reporter for Newsweek Magazine's Los Angeles Bureau, where she wrote and reported on breaking news, politics, society, travel and entertainment. Prior to her staff position at Newsweek, Ms. Figueroa worked as a freelance reporter, contributing entertainment, political, travel and breaking news coverage for People Magazine, the New York Daily News and In Touch, among other publications. Ms. Figueroa worked for the Los Angeles Bureau of Court TV during its coverage of the O.J. Simpson civil trial.
Most recently, Ms. Figueroa was senior editor and cruise editor of TravelAge West. She is one of the original editors of Travelgirl Magazine. Her travel writing has appeared in The Boston Globe, Orange Coast Magazine, Porthole Cruise Magazine, Cruisecritic.com and various Automobile Club publications. She co-authored the Moon Metro Las Vegas guide, published in 2004 by Avalon Travel Publishing.
Ms. Figueroa is a contributor and former editor-at-large for AARP's Spanish-language magazine. Her features and cover stories on travel destinations, multi-generational family travel, celebrity news, lifestyle and health topics remain the most-read on the magazine's website, Segunda Juventud. Ms. Figueroa has made television and radio appearances on the "Today Show," "The O'Reilly Factor," "Politically Correct with Bill Maher," "On the Record with Greta Van Susteren," "CNN Headline News," Wisconsin Public Radio and "The Satellite Sisters."
Prior to becoming a journalist, Ms. Figueroa was a business litigator with a major law firm in Los Angeles. She also served as staff counsel for the Orange County Superior Court.
Ms. Figueroa holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Arts from Loyola Marymount University. She also holds a law degree from Stanford University.
