I have been reporting and writing since 1978, covering everything from sports to politics, interviewing Barack Obama, Pete Rose, Jimmy Buffett and other noteworthy people as well as countless cops, mayors, guitar slingers and crooks.
All had a story to tell and I have loved hearing them and sharing them with readers.
I have also worked on TV and radio and have done some featured commentary for NPR. I wrote a book on Pulitzer Prize-winning editor Mel Ruder (Pictures, a Park and a Pulitzer," published in 2000) and edited other books.
