I've always been a writer. From the moment I could grip a crayon, I've been telling stories with pictures and words. It wasn't until I was in my 40's that I got paid for it.
I had a humorous column in a suburban Houston newspaper for seven years. Despite a strong following, my column was dropped when a new editor came to town who wanted to focus on hard news.
