Mark Butler
Mark Butler is a 30 year veteran of the US Navy where he held the rank of Command Master Chief. After retiring from the Navy he was sidetracked and bushwhacked in the private sector before ending up as a Presidential Management Fellow at U.S. Housing and Urban Development as an Equal Opportunity Specialist/Civil Rights Investigator.
While in the Navy he wrote numerous articles for Navy Times under the pen name Victor Rodriguez. Toward the end of his career he wrote for both Navy Times and Proceedings of the Naval Institute under his own name and wrote the 2002 Enlisted Essay Contest winning essay "It's Not About Fun!"
Always hungry to learn more, after graduating from the Navy's rigorous nuclear power program schools, he began to pursue higher education but had to do so via non-traditional means due to extensive sea duty assignments. This pursuit resulted in his earning two Bachelor degrees a Master of Science in Quality Assurance from California State University and an MBA from TUI University.
Certified as Professional Career Counselor by the US Department of Labor, he was recognized by the US Navy as a Master Training Specialist and is a recognized subject matter expert in off-duty education. He also teaches leadership and ethics for a local college in the Boston area in addition to teaching process improvement and quality assurance via an internet based college.
He now makes his home in North Attleboro, MA but looks forward to moving south to be closer to the grandchildren.
