Carla M. Swinke
I am an Acrylic, Mix Media, and Graphic Design Artist and Author from the Chicago area. I began writing poetry around the age of 13. I have since been dabbling in short stories, potential novels, one currently in progress, as well as script treatments and potential screenplays.
Many people and events in life have influenced my work. Frida Kahlo is one of my favorite artists. Picasso, Botticelli, Pollock, Goya, Van Gogh, Modigliani, Matisse are just a few influences. All Artists are some type of influence. I love to learn about new artists and explore the masters as well as modern/contemporary artists. I have many influences in writing. Anne Rice, Rimbaud, Jim Morrison, Edgar Allen Poe, Hemingway, William Blake, and Shakespeare are just a few. This list could go on for miles!
True beauty is in the eye of the beholder as well all know. My idea of beauty maybe much different than yours but I hope as artists and creative people we try our best to keep open minds. It doesn't matter if you are an artist, writer, musician, dancer, filmmaker or just a creative being; keep being inspired and inspiring.
