Carolyn Cogswell

Carolyn Cogswell has written for publication in newspapers in southeast Missouri (The Southeast Missourian, The Reynolds County Courier), southeast Kansas (The Osage County Herald-Chronicle) and northeast Kansas (Sun Publications, The Metro Voice and the Kansas City Star). She has published refereed professional journal articles in the field of early childhood development and education in Tennessee and Kentucky. She is currently working on a spiritual memoir.

Before elimination of her position as education reporter for Sun Publications in Overland Park,Kan., Cogswell won the Kansas Press Association's second place award for best education story in 2008.

While working as staff writer for the Osage County Herald-Chronicle, she wrote a biweekly column called "As the Cogs Turn."

She has taught early childhood development and education at Morehead State University and Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau.

Cogswell has worked as a professional musician, studied drawing and painting, lived in New York, and been arrested in Mexico, among numerous other misadventures.

She is currently active in Celebrate Recovery, her local church and works as a bilingual parenting specialist for Early Head Start.
