Ila Shah

Ila was born and raised in Ahmedabad, India, where she was one of seven children. Growing up she always had a passion for the arts, however ended up becoming an Ayurvedic doctor after her studies and opened up a clinic. She loved what she did, as she got the chance to help people in her community.

In 1980, Ila met Nitin Shah and got married. They decided to move to Canada. Ila could not continue to practice so she decided to later work at a day care, where she got lead arts and crafts activities with the children.

While she did that, she grew interested in a number of other arts - including the art of designing floral arrangement. As she learned more, she ended up taking all the offered courses, and realized how much she really enjoyed doing this. And she realized others loved her work too.

So Ila started first an at home business where she sold her arts, crafts and floral arrangements to her friends and their friends. Later, she opened Shalimar, her own official flower shop.

For the last 20 years, Ila Shah has owned and operated Shalimar Flower Shop. Shalimar is a family owned business that makes a variety of floral and gift items for any special occasion.

At Shalimar you can find a variety of products, from fresh, silk and dried flowers, to silk trees and plans to gift items such as candles, picture frames etc. Shalimar also offers special gifts for newborns, weddings and religious events. And of course, Shalimar can create customized designs for weddings and for funerals.
