Born against a frozen lake during a blizzard in Erie, PA, Richard David Smith III thought about joining the Navy upon graduating high school, but ended up enrolling in college on the advice of his Fox News-loving father. After a few sad semesters spent in bed, Smith III dropped out and joined the world of alternative news reporting instead, where his eccentricity, skeptical outlook, and irreverent views on society and life in general were more accepted and nurtured than in the collegiate atmosphere. For six years, Smith III has contributed many arts and entertainment articles on the local level in Jacksonville, FL, while holding down a series of blue collar jobs delivering everything from live lobsters to whole human blood. As a contributing writer at Xomba.com, he hopes to turn his well-trained, somewhat jaundiced eye to the world of celebrity gossip with the hope that his redneck past will not catch up with him. Smith III believes that the reason we are all so obsessed with celebrities is simple: their lives are much more interesting than ours. Well, certainly his anyway.
