Randy McBride
I graduated from High School in 1976 and got married. A few years later our first child was born, and then another one follow a year after that. This forced on the responsibility of raising children and led to a varied professional life.
I have owned and operated a construction company for several years, before I sold it. Prior to that I had worked several years in the food industry, a short time as a minister, many years in construction before starting my own business. After selling the business I went to work in technology. Originally planning on becoming a programmer, but eventually ending up at a bank specializing in disaster recovery.
Early in 2010 the FDIC closed the doors to the bank I was working. I was kept as a temp whose job ended on June 30th. During that time the choice was made to return to college and get my drug and alcohol counselor certification. I have done volunteer work in the past in this area and have found it very fulfilling.
Prior to this taking place I had been on a interesting journey with my health. I had been diagnosed with severe blood pressure problems and Type II diabetes. I also was hospitalized with internal bleeding 3 times in a couple of years.
Since this took place I found a diet that worked for me, and I am extremely active biking, walking and hiking. My three dogs serve as the peer pressure I need to keep me motivated. Since this started I have lost 145 pounds and no longer have any of the mentioned health problems.
