As a citizen of Canada, I have become greatly disenchanted with certain policies which my government is promoting in relation to the environment of our beautiful, largely pristine country- particularly the development of the Alberta Tarsands. That we can willingly and knowlingly pollute a once beautiful province in this way is reprehensible, and makes me ashamed to be called a Canadian. My writing somewhat reflects this sentiment, and I hope other people will see it as an indictment of those who will harm the environment in any country. We only have one earth- if we pollute it beyond saving, no amount of money will matter. Wealth at the expense of the sustainability of the environment is a crime, plain and simple. The future of our children is being taken away by those who would exploit the earth for gain. I have resolved that my writing will try to reflect these ideas in some way as my own method of personal protest. Hopefully others will take up the cause and support the health of their own countries' environments.
