Stephen Whitfield
I was born in a small town in eastern New Mexico. I grew up in a family automotive machine shop business environment. I never really was interested too much in that line of work but did learn quite a bit about engines. I worked at Der Wienerschnitzel while going to High School. In the 10th grade I was ready to go to college. By the time I graduated though I was burnt out and just got a job. I had researched the highest paying jobs and saw that Investment Banking topped the list. I began studying more about Wall Street. The summer after graduating I went to Los Angeles at the age of 17. I began working at a t-shirt warehouse in Redondo Beach. I later became a courier. I went behind all the usually closed doors. I got to see big money first hand. I started learning about the stock market in 1984. I went to the newstand and got the Saturday LA Times. I used the business section, The Nightly Business Report, and Wall Street Week to learn about the markets. I opened a brokerage account at Merrill Lynch and began investing in stocks. I read many books on the subject. I learned how the stock market was supposed to work and how it can stray from the fundamentals from time to time. It has been my passion for over 26 years now. I can talk about the subject for hours. I got tendonitis in my foot in 1993 and had to move back to Clovis. I have always done work with my body but now that I am older I am looking for ways to contribute using the knowledge I have accumulated. I decided that I might as well help others that are interested just as the authors of the books I read helped me.
