Elaine Higley
I worked as a critical care nurse from 1996 to 2008. In 2008 I received my Masters of Nursing, and started working as a Trauma Registrar for the Joint Theater Trauma Registry (JTTR). In this role, I use my knowledge of nursing and critical care to abstract information on wounded soldiers (and local civilians who are injured), and put it into a database.
Although I enjoyed my years of direct patient care, I also enjoyed the educational environment. I have a passion for Health Policy, and I have many ideas on what our healthcare system should look like. I see several fundamental flaws in our healthcare "system", none of which is being addressed in the current political debates. I have been frustrated by my limited ability to convey these viewpionts as a single individual. For me, the blogosphere has been quite lonely. I'm hoping to have more of a voice here.
