Pen and Ink

A communicator, former lobbyist and fundraiser, I was born in Kentucky, and grew up in Florida but have called the Washington DC area my home for all of my adult life. I became unemployed in January, 2009 and have used this "sandwich" time to write, travel, do interesting part time work, volunteer and spend more time with my family - while seeking full time employment.

As a result of the time spent unemployed or underemployed, I have written a great deal on my blog to help others understand the complexities and difficulties of being unemployed.

I have a consulting business and help nonprofit organizations in grant writing and communications.

Government relations and working with constituents are my career interests, along with writing.

In my local and international travel, photography and exploring nature, and history are important features.

Life offers so many opportunities and I am trying to take advantage of as many of them as I can. I enjoy the opportunity to write about them and publish a blog at www.observationsindailylife.blogspot.com where I often write about nature and my observations of wildlife that parallel experiences in humans.
