Bob Haring graduated from the University of Missouri with a journalism degree, then worked for the Southern Illinoisan in Carbondale, Ill., and served in the Army before joining The Associated Press. After 15 years with AP as reporter, writer, editor and executive in New York City, he moved to the Tulsa (Okla.) World for 22 years, mostly as executive editor. Since retirement he has freelanced and written a weekly computer security newsletter.
